Dr. Pradipta Mohanty

Dr. Pradipta Mohanty, Chairman of SNM Group, is a distinguished industrial engineer with an impressive academic and professional background. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from NIT, Tiruchirappalli, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering from the National Productivity Council (NPC). Additionally, he has completed a certificate course on Re-Engineering from JMA Management Centre Inc. in Japan. He further honed his expertise through specialized training in Automation for Small & Medium Scale Industries and ISO-9000 standards from the Asian Productivity Organization in Japan. Dr. Mohanty has had a notable career, beginning as a Jr. Planning Engineer at OTTO India Pvt. Ltd. in Rourkela, Odisha. He then served as Assistant Director and later as Senior Deputy Director at the National Productivity Council, where he worked for over two decades. His extensive experience includes productivity studies, organizational analysis, manpower planning, and total quality management. In 2004, he became the Chairman of SNM Group, a leading mining company, where he continues to provide leadership and vision. In addition to his business pursuits, Dr. Mohanty is deeply committed to social service. He founded the SNM Charitable Trust, which focuses on agricultural development, healthcare, and education, and the Jan Jeevika Foundation, which empowers individuals and communities to create sustainable businesses that contribute to environmental sustainability. He has also served as the Chairman of Orissa Sponge Iron Manufacturers Association (OSIMA) and has held leadership roles in several industry bodies, including the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Odisha and Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (UCCI). Dr. Mohanty’s contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including an honorary doctorate from the Foreign Policy Research Institute, Delhi. He is also an active educator, serving as a visiting faculty member at Xavier Institute of Management and the Institute of Business Administration & Training in Bhubaneswar.
